Beef Stew Redone

Good Morning Everyone! My hubby and I started making this beef stew about 5 years ago!  We love it and its so easy. It can be cooked on the stove OR in the crock pot. I make it the night before so all I have to do is put it on the stove, or turn the crock pot on.  It is always better after hanging out in the fridge over night.

Beef Stew
2 packages of Stew meat and steak
(or you can just use stew meat)
4 C. Water
4 Cubes or 4 Tsp Beef Boulion
1 Tsp Rosemary
1 T Parsley
1 Tsp Pepper
5 Potatoes Chopped
4 Celery stalks chopped
5 carrots chopped
2 garlic cloves chopped
1 onion chopped

In a dutch oven or a skillet put in 3 T of canola oil. Next chop your stew meat and steak into smaller pieces. Salt and pepper them. Put flour in a baggy. Dump steak in and toss it around till coated. Turn your skillet or dutch oven on and make sure oil is nice and hot. Now take your steak pieces  and shake excess flour off. Put them in the hot oil. All you want to do is brown the outside. You don't want them fully cooked. Put steak on a plate and set aside. Dump out any excess oil. But DO NOT scrape the pan. You want the bits left behind.  In a bowl dump your water in it. Then add your beef bouillon(I use the powdered kind much easier and faster) till its dissolved.  Add your rosemary, pepper, parsley and stir. Now put it in your skillet and heat till boiling. Now grab a sauce pan or crock pot if you are not using it in a dutch oven. Dump your liquid in the sauce pan or crock pot. If your doing it all in a dutch oven then skip the pouring part. Now that your liquid is ready, you need to add your meat, and veggie mixture. Stir it. Now simmer it for an hour or if your using a crock pot put it on low.
If your doing this the night before in your crock pot no need to simmer. Just put it in your fridge. If your doing this in a sauce pan or dutch oven simmer for an hour. Then let it cool down and put it in your fridge over night. Then the next day when you need it then cook it for a few hours on low. If in the crock pot cook it on low for about 6-8 hours.  If it's too liquidy then add 2 Tsp cornstarch and 2 tsp water. That'll thicken it. Its done when the veggies are soft, and the meat is tender.
Eat and enjoy!
