Heart Cakes w/ chocolate butter cream

Good Morning on this very snowy day. We are expecting about 2 feet of snow. Due to the snow we are having we had to postpone the fundraiser I was helping organize.  So today was going to be baking all day, but can't. So I decided to make the heart cakes.  This is a semi easy recipe. I had bought cake mixes on sale awhile back, so I made devils food cake.

Here is my recipe :-)

1 Boxed Cake mix OR you can make homemade
1 Heart or any other shape cookie cutter

Bake and Cool it as according to directions.  Then take your cake gently out of the pan and into heart shapes. Be very careful they might fall apart. Make sure your cake is nice and cool. Lay your hearts out on a plate. Cut in half so you will have to hearts.

Butter Cream Frosting:

1/4 Cup of softened Butter
2 Cups Confectioners Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
1/2 Tsp Cocoa
3 Tablespooons of Milk

Combine all ingredients and mix it up. Put it into a piping bag. Take one half of your heart and pipe the butter cream on the half. Put the other half of the heart on top. So that it makes a sandwich..  Put a dot of frosting on top. Set aside.

Chocolate Hearts

Mint and Dark chocolate chips ( you can use whatever)

Melt in the microwave till there are no lumps. Put into a plastic baggy and cut a small hole in the end. Take a cookie sheet and lay wax paper or parchment paper. Now take your baggy and make your hearts. After yo uget the outline done you can do swirls in the middle. Do not do it to thin so it doesn't break. Put it in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Once you have the hardened hearts lay them on top of each heart. Right on top of the butter cream frosting.

Eat and Enjoy!
