Chocolate Drizzle Funnel Cakes

I grew up in Illinois where Fairs are HUGE...one thing they have here is Funnel Cakes. Nothing beats a nice fresh funnel cake topped with powdered sugar. Here in Massachusetts they do not have funnel cakes, or much for Fairs really. At least not like I am use to. So I have dearly missed funnel cakes, so I created a CHOCOLATE funnel cake. Its a twist on the normal!  I hope you enjoy this special treat that brings back so many memories for me :-)

Chocolate Funnel Cakes
Oil for frying
2 C. Flour
3 Tsp Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Vanilla
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 1/2 C Milk
2 Eggs

Toppings:
Melted Chocolate
Powdered Sugar

In a pan fill it half way with oil, and turn it on. You need the oil hot so that when you pour it in it will fry right away. Now while the oil is cooking, you can mix the batter. In a bowl combine your flour, cocoa powder, salt. Mix well. Add in your milk and eggs. Whisk till smooth. Now the reason its called funnel cake is it uses a funnel but that's hard. So I took an empty ketchup bottle and filled it with batter. When the oil is the right eat, you can tell by putting a tiny bit of batter in it. If it fries immediately your good. Now, its tricky and you might have to redo it a couple times....Take it and squirt the batter in so that it spirals...do it fast. Cook till the bottom is golden brown. Flip over and let the other side get golden brown. Take it out and put it on a paper towel. Now dust it with powdered sugar, and drizzle melted chocolate on top. Eat and Enjoy!!!! Have napkins cause its messy!

  4. I've never heard of a funnel cake before as we don't really have anything like that in the UK. They look really tasty though and I can see they're popular at fairs.
